Data population is the process of compiling and sending a large number of tug equipment manuals to ABS, the supplier of NSE, and then uploading that information into the system. This process is vitally important to obtain a quality database with optimal information commensurate with our equipment.

Our team in Panama sent data for eight lead tugs and seven sister tugs. This procedure also included compiling technical manuals and creating and translating standard maintenance plans for essential equipment into Spanish.

Currently, to complete the data population process in Panama, ABS is adding the required materials to the corresponding maintenance cards.

Similarly, our team in Mexico sent technical manuals for 10 lead tugs and 1 sister tug in their fleet. Costa Rica sent information on one lead.

This process was done for all tugs in SAAM Towage’s fleet. One of the main challenges is compiling all the necessary manuals since some of our operations had to scan them or acquire them from external suppliers.

Countries getting ready to implement the project should consider this important point.
