In July, we continued making progress on the use of Helm. Our on-board personnel in Mexico took part in training sessions given by Héctor López, a Helm Internal Key User in Mexico.

The face-to-face training offered in the ports of Tuxpan, Altamira, Lázaro Cárdenas, Veracruz and Tampico presented the platform to tug captains.  At the sessions, approximately 30 students worked through Helm’s “On Board” module to learn about recording operational information, like filling out service tickets, entering work orders and logging schedules.

One participant, CaptainGabriel Borloy of the SAAM Huichol tug in the port of Tuxpan, remarked, “This course has been vital to understanding administrative organization and processing. The teaching style was warm and the trainer was very approachable. I am grateful for the instruction. It will improve the efficiency and speed of billing in the office.”

Naval pilot and captain in the Port of Altamira, Karina López, commented, “Learning about this platform has been important. It is a tool that will make it easier to enter basic information for the Operations Department. I am thankful to our trainers. They were very kind and attentive. They have also stayed in close contact, responding effectively to any questions that arise.”

Eduardo Castruita, captain of the SAAM Zapoteca tug in the port of Tampico said, “The training was very practical. It helped me learn first-hand about areas I did not know, like finance. The program really streamlines operations and lightens my load. Also, its electronic service log lets us record berthing and deberthing times while measuring work times and monthly consumption for each tug. That information is important for generating statistics.

Soon, the model will be rolled out and training will be offered to tug crews in the port of Topolopampo and off-shore tugs.

We continue to need your support and participation to make progress on Tripanko implementation. Helm and NSE training will provide the tools you need to take maximum advantage of these systems and make our operations more efficient.
