Tripanko’s Helm team paid a visit to SAAM Towage Colombia to support the tool’s rollout in the country.

Liliana Ojeda, Head of Operational Projects at SAAM, says that “we had the opportunity to visit the Cartagena tugs, where the captains shared their first impressions and experiences with the system. We also visited the base of operations and the main office. This gave us a greater understanding of its context, direct input from the team on their perceptions, and enabled us to continually improve and look for new projects that support the operation.”

Regarding the implementation of Helm in Colombia, the Operations module is currently available, which has supported the planning and allocation of resources, as well as coordination with tugs. “What we still need to determine is the interface between Helm and SAP, the ERP used in Colombia, to finish automating the billing process for services,” mentions Liliana.

Among next steps, according to Liliana, given the positive experience with the platform, “we are exploring other solutions offered by Helm. The next project will be to implement a new module: Helm Compliance, an initiative to be led by the SHE-Q area to support the system processes for management, certifications, forms and others.”

This visit included the participation of Walter Domínguez, from SAAM Towage Mexico, who traveled to see good practices carried out in Colombia and its recently opened Center for Operations and Services (CIOPS).
