In August, we offered another training on the Helm tool, this time for SAAM Towage Panama. Personnel participated in sessions led by Sergio Gómez, SAAM Towage Panama’s Commercial Coordinator and an Internal Key User for Helm Panamá.

At the ports of Balboa, Cristóbal, Manzanilla and Petroterminal, fifty-six tug captains received in-person training on the Helm platform. The “On Board” training module explains how to record operating information, like filling out service tickets, entering work orders and logging schedules.

Gómez commented, “This training was very beneficial for furthering what we have already learned with the Helm Connect system. It enabled us to take full advantage of the tool, which offers a wide range of benefits that enable greater control of daily activities and additional traceability for the service we provide. It contributes to planning, creation, logging and billing a purchase order.”

He also emphasized the positive participation from the captains, who “we very eager to continue learning and gain more knowledge about the system that will enable us to continuously improve our operations.”

Moodle Academy

On the other hand, this month we launched the Corporate Academy on Moodle, an internal online training platform for reinforcing topics covered in person with permanently available materials. The platform can also conduct evaluations so that content may be adjusted, if necessary.

Carolina Luengo, Head of the Human Resources Project Division at SAAM Towage said, “This reinforcement tool is very important for the Tripanko project. Offering a retraining period optimizes system use. Our goal is to provide ongoing user support to get the most out of the platform.”
