Data are the foundation for properly using Nautical Systems. Given their importance, the process of uploading technical data on tugs is already underway in Chile and Brazil.

According to Isidora Zegers, New Project Engineer for Tripanko, “The data uploaded into the software is related to maintenance plans, spare parts and materials, the hierarchy of systems, equipment and components and the technical data sheets for equipment.”

The process is supported by an external supplier in charge of analyzing the information and verifying that it is correctly uploaded into the system, which “will soon enable us to manage both preventative and corrective maintenance, as well as all purchases that must be made by SAAM Towage. Building a robust, solid database will help streamline our processes by standardizing how we do things throughout the entire fleet,” said Zegers.

Javiera Cifuentes, Senior Operations Specialist for SAAM Towage Brazil, explained that the main challenge is for “information contained in the equipment manuals and other documents to be copied quickly and accurately into the system by the supplier. This is a major task, particularly for Brazil since we have so many tugs and different vessel classes. So, the supplier must upload the information very carefully and we must answer their questions and review their work at a fast pace.” “We have to make sure that we have top quality data,” she added, while underscoring how committed the team is to this undertaking.

Once this phase is complete, and before starting to use NSE, we have to upload the hour meters for the equipment on each tug, the dates of the most recent maintenance and the daily use averages.

We hope to have all technical information uploaded into the software by December 2021.
