Juan Alfredo Illingworth:

“We are sailing in the right direction”.

Juan Alfredo Illingworth, SAAM Towage Country Manager in Ecuador, oversees a team of 80 people who have embarked on this Tripanko project like all of us.

In this interview, he shares his vision on the matter and progress in Ecuador, where nine tugs are deployed across all the country’s ports and terminals.

How do you envision Tripanko’s impact on SAAM Towage operations in Ecuador?
We will have an organized, homogeneous system in place primarily to administer operations, maintenance and supply. It will all be interconnected with our ERP. Implementation of NSE and Helm will give us much more information in a timely manner.

What’s going on with Tripanko in Ecuador? What are the most immediate hurdles?
The most important is putting it into production, which we expect to happen at the end of the year.

How have the teams taken it?
In general, people are excited about the changes and the new tools at their disposal. Of course, there is a learning curve and adaptation period.

¿How would you describe before and after Tripanko?
I think we are “sailing” in the right direction. Having exact business information online and not having to conduct manual processes to produce that information is important.
